BIO

Austin Segura, better known as Porkchop, is a 34 year old artist from Fort Worth, Texas. He has now been tattooing for 17 years and can’t imagine doing anything else. He says, “I was that kid in school that never did his homework because I was always drawing on it. I was that dude that you knew when you needed something fancy drawn up for your lady. My mother, Lisa Segura, was a great artist and I believe that’s where I got the doodle bug from. When I was young I always wanted to be different than your normal walking robot. I didn’t think I would have much joy in life if I got a normal job with normal people working normal hours.” Eventually he made up his mind to tattoo. “It’s art, and I would be able to do something different every day. And most importantly, I would be doing something that I love. I started a 2 year apprenticeship in a professional shop. Tragically I lost that job when I started getting cocky and lied to my mentor, telling him I was sick so I could go out and party. When he found out I was terminated and became very upset that I was no longer in a tattoo studio. I also received a bad reputation for what I did and I thought I had messed up my only way to become a tattoo artist. However, with a bit of luck, I got an interview with Casino Beach Tattoo and was hired on the spot. The owners, Chris and Mindy, saw potential in me. There I was able to sharpen my skills and slowly perfect my art. Porkchop now currently works and manages Ineffable Tattoo Studio located in College Station Texas. “I love my job and the people I meet doing it. Knowing that I made a client happy with my art with something that will last them a lifetime is an amazing feeling.” “I favor working with color tattoos with fine lines and intricate details.”
